My earliest thought be turned to Him
Who, while in slumber's arms I lay,
Through helpless hours and darkness dim,
Has brought me safely to the day.

I slept in safety, for His eye
Watched round my bed; and now I'll bring
My offering to the Deity;
And He shall bless the offering.

Through the high heaven, diffusing joy;
